On a sunny spring morning, when the birds were chirping and singing, I was born in Hollywood California, looking like a cross between a Nordic and Asian baby. My father would later sarcastically say that I was adopted from Korea just after the war (like I was war baby. I grew up in a typical dysfunctional Jewish family in San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles. I later studied at San Diego State University.
