I have been a poet for over 35 years now. My first poem was written on a mountaintop overlooking Napa, California.
That was the beginning of a long journey to understanding who I am and what I am here for. In the interim I had five beautiful children and now have beautiful grandchildren who give me joy and comfort continuously. The feeling of family could never be bought and I treasure each moment with the children and now the grandchildren. They are blessings to me daily.
I read daily and fill my mornings with prayer and hope for a better world. Meanwhile, I keep writing to soothe my soul.
My latest love is graphic design and making fractals. I plan to use my fractals on greeting cards and my poetry. It is a wonderful pastime to have and gives my another outlet for my creativity.
I can honestly say I would rather write and create than watch television.
I am happily married to a wonderful artist. He is my best friend and confidant. We enjoy many wondrous days together, and I treasure each day I wake up with him.
One of my mentors is Louise Gluck. She is a poet of free verse and tells poetry like it is. In addition, I will forever love Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson. Be reading and studying their works it has helped me to learn rhyming my poetry and to try and put more rhythm into them.
Thank you to all you fellow poets who read my work. It helps me to keep striving to do better :) .
