A bi-lingual journalist and award-winning poet, Augustine Sam is a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists, U.K. and the International Society of Poets, U.S.A. Formerly a scriptwriter for radio and an occasional presenter, he was also Special Desk editor at THISDAY newspapers, an authoritative third-world daily published with the Financial Times of London. He later became correspondent for Central Europe and moved to Italy where, in addition to journalism, he began to write poetry. In 1998, “Anguish & Passion,” his entry poem in the North America Open Poetry Contest, won the Editors’ Choice Award and was published by the National Library of Poetry, USA, in the anthology, Sounds of Silence. Author of two thriller novels, he has been nominated twice for "International Poet of Merit Award," which he won in 2002 and was invited to be inducted into the International Society of Poetry as honorary member.

1998: Winner of the EDITORS’ CHOICE AWARD in the North America Open Poetry Contest, organized by The National Library of Poetry, U.S.A.

2002: Winner of the INTERNATIONAL POET OF MERIT AWARD given by the International Society of Poets.

2007: Crowned WRITER OF THE MONTH (for the month of September) by the team of Literary Agents Showcase for the manuscript of his new novel ANNABELLA.

Sam's first complete work of poetry in book form - SENSUAL ILLUSIONS is a charming hardbound anthology, and contains some of his highly praised verses and award-winning poems. His new work: ANNABELLA, a powerful Women's Commercial Fiction was on display last September on the Literary Agent Showcase website, following his selection as Writer of the Month. Finally, Italian speaking visitors to this den will find a few of his original Italian language poems, for their enjoyment.
