Small town boy, grew up in Forest City, NC, I am southern to the core with a strong sense of place and of southern history. Influenced by Edgar Alan Poe, Herman Melville, Shelley, Keats, Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, Robert E. Lee, Robert Frost, e.e. cummings, Plato and Jesus Christ, among others. I am a husband, father and grandfather (5 of the little munchkins).
I am by trade a commercial and corporate lender. I earned a B.A. in Politicial Science with a minor in History and English in 1969 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I want to create worlds with words that move, inspire, terrify.

Co-Founded the National Funding Association and the Charlotte Chapter of the Commercial Finance Association. Served on the Boards of both organizations.

Published Civil War Novel, Scarecrow in Gray in September 2006. Still waiting for my spot on the New Times Bestseller list.
Scarecrow in Gray follows my great-grandfather as he goes to war, is badly bloodied in the process, and then tries to make his way home.
