Welcome to the Authors' Den. I hope you'll take a moment to browse through my site and a few of my writing samples. Let me know if you see anything that strikes your fancy... or not. By way of background, I was born in Germany and gew up as an Air Force brat. I loved the life and the places our family lived and traveled. So, it seemed natural to follow in my Dad's footsteps in the Air Force for my own 20-year career. 1969 was a rather momentous year.
I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French, received my Commission as an Air Force Second Lieutenant, reported for active duty in west Texas as an Intelligence Officer and got married to my wife, Rita. Recently we celebrated our 38 wedding anniversary. Rita and I have been living in Sacramento, CA since 1985 and since then our two children have blessed us with three grandchildren. Therein lies the inspiration for much of my children's writing.
The other influences on my writing have been many. Perhaps most importantly in my early years, I saw my Mom enjoy writing accounts of our travels and of our encounters with different cultures and people around the world. Although I didn't have much of an interest in writing in my youth, I have felt drawn to it later in life. I did manage to write news and features for two community newspapers (one weekly and one monthly) in the mid-1990s. And in 2003 I started writing rhyme, mostly for children and mostly for fun.
Over the years, I earned two graduate degrees (International Relations and Public Administration), a Certificate in Total Quality Management and a Massage Therapy Certification. I have lived on four continents and traveled on five; lived in seven of the United States and visited or traveled through 47 of them. I have run several marathons and ultra-marathons and I don't think I'm done yet. So, who am I? I am a husband, a father and a grandfather. I am an Eagle Scout, a long distance runner and a Certified Massage Therapist. I wasn't always a writer but one day I started and here I am....
