Background: Dr. Billy Johnson holds a Ph.D in Molecular Biology/Microbiology and an MD from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and practiced as a board certified physician in Virginia and Connecticut. He is the Founder and President of Ultimate Health Plus in Cranston, Rhode Island. Dr. Johnson became interested in Health and Nutrition after losing his oldest brother to heart attack secondary to type 2 diabetes.

Shortly afterwards, Dr. Johnson was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol—factors increasing his risk of heart attack and stroke. The threat to his health led him to research and develop a program addressing the root causes of obesity related chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, premature aging, and loss of energy ---- caused by oxidative stress and low-grade chronic  inflammation triggered by many factors, including unhealthy foods, physical inactivity, and environmental causes such as pesticides, industrial pollutants, and toxins.

Like most Pisceans, he is mystical, gifted, imaginative, and finds the greatest satisfaction in life giving rather than receiving. As a physician, he intuitively senses the pain of others—healing by caring and lifting the spirit far beyond the normal realm of medical practice. All because he genuinely cared for his patients who came to trust his medical judgment and skill as a passionate surgeon and obstetrician.

As a young boy growing up in Africa, he captured the suffering, injustice, and poverty he encountered in poetry. As a physician he saw kids suffering from chronic diseases that were once thought to be adult-onset diseases. He saw kids in this generation who are predicted to have a poorer quality of life and a shorter lifespan than their parents. And he saw parents who are dying prematurely from diseases that could be prevented if they had the proper knowledge and the courage to take charge of their own health.

My Greatest Attribute: Hope, faith, patience, passion, and gratitude.

My Heroes: Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Khalil Gibran, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Robert Kennedy, John Kennedy, George Washington, George Washington Carver and most importantly my beloved mother, Mary Johnson.

Hobby: Writing, cooking, tennis, soccer, swimming, and music.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Ultimate Health Plus, LLC 2003- Present

• I founded the “Ultimate Health Plus “ which enabled me to research and develop a subject matter that I became very passionate about—understanding the underlying cause of obesity related chronic degenerative diseases, and to develop simple and effective strategies and techniques to minimize the disease or risk. This work led to my writing a series of books on health, two of which have been published: The Prescription for Healthy Weight Loss & Optimum Health ISBN 1595263918, October 2006. New Prescription for Childhood Obesity ISBN 0-595-45343-0, January 2008.

Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs, Connecticut 1998 - 2001
Obstetrics/Gynecology Attending & Director and Owner

New England Women’s Health Center (NEWHC)
•My company NEWHC owned and staffed the only Obstetrics/Gynecology facilities of the Johnson Memorial Hospital (JMH) located in Stafford Springs and Enfield, CT. This was at a critical period when the hospital OB/GYN department was losing patients to the neighboring competing hospitals that were much larger and better managed. The hospital not only lost patients, but also its entire obstetrician staff, despite having recently renovated the obstetric units into modern “birthing suites”.
•However, under my leadership, we were able to turn the OB/GYN department of JMH from “red” to “black” in a short time. I had a staff of 15, including a female obstetrician, a nurse practitioner and a mid-wife (this was a first in the history of the hospital). This was an experience both politically charged and challenging due to inadequate funding and support. Despite the difficulties, we were able to build a highly successful OB/GYN practice that ultimately saved the reputation and financial deterioration of the hospital. This experience will serve as one of my proudest moments and achievement in spite of the overwhelming obstacles and daily challenges.
