I am a multiArtist. I enjoy experimenting with various art forms and to merge different platforms. I have used the Internet as a form of expression since 1995. My various web sites have been awarded major awards and my online contribution has been considered pioneering on a global scale. Thus the Internet is one of my major influences. The people I have met in Cyberspace and worked with through various projects have created a new dimension to my work. I begun to write at an early age and when I was 14 I chose to become a poet. Some of my literary influences are Icelandic authors I am sure you will never have heard of. I guess Steinn Steinarr plays the largest role in guiding me towards poetry, he was one of our greatest poets. The Beat generation, Blake, Bulgakov, Hesse and Snorri Sturluson. And than there are people I am deeply thankful towards, such as: Dalai Lama for his ability to make me smile every time I see him, D. H. Melhem for the deep and sharp beauty in her work, Larry Jaffe for being an action poet, Maurizio Di Bona for his ability to draw another perspective and my children for keeping me grounded.

Birgitta Jonsdottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland 1967. She has lived in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, USA, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands. She is currently living at her island of extremes, Iceland.

Birgitta has been active in the Icelandic literature, music, and art scenes for 20 years and is considered one of the pioneers in bringing The Arts to the Internet. Her first book of poetry, Frostdinglar (Icicles), was published when she was twenty by one of Iceland's leading publishers. Her art has been exhibited in the USA, Asia and Europe. She has taken part in festivals around the world, both art and poetry. Her work has been published in anthologies, TV, Radio, Magazines, Newspapers and on the Internet.

Her poetry has been translated to 12 languages, Japanese, Arabic, German, Spanish, Albanian and Romanian to name a few. In the year 2003 she published 10 chapbooks in Icelandic and continues to take the road less travelled when it comes to publishing. Recent places her work has appeared in are Short Fuse - global anthology, Rattapallax Press 2002, Mobius 20th anniversary issue 2002, the Journal 2002, Black Listed Journalist 2003, Blackmail Press 2003 and the anthology The Company we Keep 2003. In 2004 her web-site Womb of Creation was given a new look, feel and face, 270 new pages added, all done by her. WoC is poetry and art in motion. Her novel "The Diary of the Chameleon was published by the Radical Press in Iceland in 2005.

2002 she edited and published the Book of Hope & the World Healing Book, global anthologies. Birgitta is a member of IWWG, United Poets & the Icelandic Writers Union.

Birgitta is currently writing the biography of her late mother - the legendary folk singer of Iceland, Bergþóra Árnadóttir
