I began writing poetry when I was 15 and wrote about the Vietnam War. Poetry is my first love but I've written several short stories too. I love to write poetry from the inside out, putting myself in someone elses shoes and writing from their perspective.
I read constantly, anything I can get my hands on and my mind never shuts off. I'm always thinking of something to write about. Growing up in a small town I see the world through the eyes of my own imagination.
I took 4 years of English in High School and was very much influenced by my 12th grade English teacher, Betty LaPointe.
I see things for what they are and I have a straight up, no holds barred attitude when it comes to writing. I'm not afraid to voice my opinion, strong or otherwise.
People say I write from my heart. My heart's been broken so many times I wonder if I've picked up all the pieces, but I write and it heals.

In my autogiography, I Promise Not to Tell, I mention Oprah. I had written her a letter and she had invited me to be on her show about 15 years ago and I couldn't go. The segment was about "Secrets." One of my dreams was fulfilled when my book was published. Another would be fulfilled if I could get it into Oprah's hands. Not for the recognition, but because her show was so much a part of keeping me sane back then. She was so inspirational. I want her to have a copy as much as I would want a best friend to have one, just the personal satisfaction of knowing she has one, a part of me.
I was contacted by the Montel Williams Show about my memoir, I Promise Not to Tell. I may be on a future show.
