Sept. 7, 2008:  Believe it or not, Born Bent Over is coming!  There's been quite a few pre-publication snags and glitches, but it seems we've finally overcome them and, within the next few weeks, the book should be available.
Finally!
I do promise that the finished product will be well worth the wait.  Stay tuned for film at 11.

August 2, 2008:  The pre-publication reviews of Born Bent Over: Flashing the Vertical Smile at Middle Age are just starting to come in.

Here's the first to arrive.  My many thanks to Julie Donner Anderson for her glowing review.  Check out her page here on Author's Den when you have a chance.

“Born Bent Over: Flashing the Vertical Smile at Middle Age” by Brian Greenleaf is a hysterical romp through the landmine of life we Baby Boomers refer to as middle age. Written as a series of humorous essays from a male perspective, this book also appeals to the estrogen set, with chapters that will have most “menopausal mamas” nodding in agreement and doubling over with laughter. Mr. Greenleaf flexes his comedic muscle best when writing about the inevitable physical aches and pains of aging and the necessary but feared procedures. If the thought of a colonoscopy has you wincing, this book will put your mind at ease just knowing you’re not alone. In fact, any book that so easily and humorously relates to real life, as this one certainly does, is a must-have if you wish to survive midlife with a smile…even if it’s a vertical one.

~Julie Donner Andersen, author of “Parentally Insane: Insights From The Edge…of Midlife!” and “PAST: Perfect! PRESENT: Tense! Insights From One Woman’s Journey as the Wife of a Widower

My publisher is putting the finished product through the paces, checking to insure I crossed all the “T’s” and dotted all the “i’s.” The publishing wheels are churning and, at this point, we’re on time. It looks as if the early September 2008 time frame is becoming a reality. Unless some unforeseen roadblock rears its ugly head, Born Bent Over: Flashing the Vertical Smile at Middle-Age will be making its debut on BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com. It will also be available through all the standard distribution channels so, should you so desire, you can ask for it at your local bookstore. The smaller stores may have to order it for you but, with any luck, the larger stores will have it on hand.
If you plan on one day reaching forty, if you’re in your forties, or beyond your forties and just want a hysterical look back on the trials and tribulations associated with middle-age, you won’t want to miss this book.
Middle-age is probably one of the most turbulent phases in the circle of life. The changes, both physical and psychological, make puberty look like a walk in the park.  Unfortunately for the poor sap in this book, every possible side effect of middle-age has befallen him in spades. His doctor and nemesis, referred to as the Marquis de Sade for reasons that become very apparent throughout the book, and our hero have a love/hate relationship certain to have you in stitches. This poor guy should be the poster child for surviving, at least so far, the ravages of middle-age.
I’ll be posting updates as we get closer to the publication date. In the meantime, keep an eye on the shower drain for those hideous hair monsters. Their coming is usually foretold by the streaks of flesh becoming visible atop your thinning pate. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
Smile, life is grand.
Brian

As always, my most sincere thank you to all of you who have read and commented on my stories and The Paramedic.  Your kind words and critique are greatly appreciated.

_________________________________________________________________

The Paramedic, my latest release, was a two year labor of love that completely possessed me.  It started as a short story and, before I knew it, I was living at my desk, writing and rewriting, editing and molding the characters until they were exactly how I had them portrayed in the non-stop movie of the week playing in my slighty addled mind.  All that intensive work paid off when the book started receiving some great reviews from noteworthy people associated with the contemporary erotic romance genre.  My addiction to Dunkin Donuts coffee is an ongoing ramification of the whole process.

The Paramedic is my second full length novel.  My first, The Tenderfoot's Guide to Family Camping, was released in 1999, also to some wonderful reviews.  The change in genre was totally unexpected, but very welcomed.

I write because I love to write.  Writing takes me away from the physical world.  My office is my island; an eclectic collection of "stuff" that most would consider either wacky or just plain weird.  To me, they're treasures.  Every one of them has a story.

I am a voracious reader and wait eagerly for anything new by Robin Cook, Stephen King or Michael Crichton.  I also love reading JulesVerne and Edgar Allan Poe, but they haven't published anything new lately.

I have been published in various ebooks, newspapers and magazines in different genres.

You can read some of my short stories, as well as reviews of The Paramedic, on my website: www.bgreenleaf.com
