For more than 30 years Burt Keimach has worked in journalism covering everything from the antics of the local town drunk, to the doings of presidents and prime ministers. This sometimes dubious and always frenetic activity has found him in the Middle East, the US, the UK, and France. When he turned 50 he decided he'd had enough of the travelling rat race. So he put his feet up and wrote a couple of books! He still keeps himself busy by acting as a consultant on Middle East issues, and it's this background in history and languages that he used to write his latest book, SUICIDE STRING.
It's a study in what can happen when religious fanaticism takes charge and common sense gets thrown into the back seat on a wild ride to the gates of mayhem. Although the characters and events are fictitious, there is a dire warning that should be heeded in today's world climate fraught with fears of terror.
His other work, GASCON FEATHERS, also fictitiously addresses a real issue of concern -- what happens when the exploitation of animals runs out of control. The riches gained by greed and cruelty, are offset by the brutalization of the people carrying on the practice of force-feeding ducks and then ripping out the birds' livers to make a highly questionable "delicacy".
Issues concern him. Cruelty to people, and brazen disregard for the welfare of animals are revealed in these two books. If there is a lesson it is that bad behaviour leads to chaos, and ends in tears.
