The author is the fourth child of eleven, and eldest daughter of a Scotch/Irish-Catholic father and an "experimental" Protestant/Yankee Blue Blood mother. Education, integrity and work were major household themes. As were taking on parenting-like responsibliities at an early age, protecting younger siblings, and learning to share everything. Growing up in a large family taught the author a strong sense of fair play and standing up for what was right. Her New England farm years were pivotal in developing an abiding love of Mother Earth--and gardening! Working her way through college (bachelor's and master's degrees) at odd jobs (donut slinger, watch repairperson, doctor's office nursing assistant, assembly-line cog, grocery checker, etc.) taught her discipline, patience and persistence--and the enduring wisdom of hermitic tendencies... Her advanced grad school years at Syracuse University, New York were equally pivotal in helping to expand her global view of humanity's developmental context. She will remain forever driven by curiosity, and all those pesky "why" questions about the nature of existence. Interests beyond reading widely and writing include: nature hikes, star/moon-gazing, Tarot, travel, gardening, music, ballroom dance--especially Tango!, discussing politics-philosophy-religion-sensuality, touring museum exhibits, cement sculpting, Yoga/pilates/bellydance--especially tribal inspired, and yes, blessed meditation.
