Global Warming and Environmental Fear
By Greg Pendleton
Are you paying attention to all this nonsense?
Is it Global Warming or is it Climate Change? I have heard both terms used over the past couple of years and I have been rather amazed at all the hype that has been spread around. Has the climate on this planet ever stopped changing since the time of its beginning? I know that pictures painted of North America in the time of the dinosaurs reflects an area much different from the way it has appeared for the last several thousand years and the way it appears today. Geologic time and the transformation of this planet is a reality that has been studied continuously. Science understands this reality.
Change is the only constant in the physical universe. Everything, including you and me, is changing from moment to moment, let alone from year to year. Do I fear this change? Do you? Change must be embraced if Life is to be experienced successfully. To resist change is to deny the living reality we are all expressed into. Fear of change is fear of Life.
The physical change of the world will continue, for in change is growth. Of importance is the ability one has to flow with change, to recognize change, to adapt to a newer reality.
The universal response to climate change, or global warming, or what ever you wish to label it, begins with the individual. My response to this change is critical. Must I wait for politicians or scientists to remind me of what is always imminent? Each of us has a responsibility to respond to life.
