Violence amongst our children and in our relationships is destroying the moral fiber of our streets and communities.
Non-Violence or Non-Existence
The world we live in today, it appears now, a great big ball of turmoil and violence. In April of 2007, a young Virginia Tech student with psychological problems, open fired killing numerous people and wounding others for the sake of attention. Sadly, not long after that, a mother, boyfriend, and three children murdered inside their homes. The beginning of this year started off with a headline about a young Inkster middle school girl was stab twice for reasons of jealousy. April 2009 was also tragic, when an American soldier open fired in his marine station killing other U.S. soldiers. Violence changes the psyche of a person, destroying moral and sympathetic feelings that could redirect his rage and poor judgment. In addition, let us not forget about the assassin that killed Martin Luther King Jr. The God we serve have to question the reason and idea of why violence exists and why it cannot cease. The children of today are entering the world; more violent and more eager to solve their problems by making everyone around suffer. I never seen such disrespect amongst our youths and parents seem defenseless toward redirecting them from self-destruction. In addition, more marriages and relationships are becoming prone to violence, and personal protection orders have skyrocketed to levels that are not in the best interest of the children. In cities across America, girlfriends and wives are disappearing and discovered later with their bodies badly abuse and beaten to death, by people who profess that they love them. Young girls and adolescents are kidnap from stores and their homes, by insane men that need to satisfy their desire for attention and sex. In the back yards of affluent communities, dogs are force to fight to the death, when they should be somewhere protecting homes from intruders.
We are living in a world that has become more violent than ever before in our history, and each day things seem worse with innovations. I live in Detroit, Michigan, and every time I turn on the television, I hear that a young man bump another’s vehicle, and was shot three times, and that he died on the way to the hospital. I hear, a mother of eight, was found dead inside a truck of her car, I hear, two boys, ages eleven and twelve years on, was shot several times in the head of their homes, mistaken for drug dealers. Violence has become our purpose of solving petty disputes, and our survival depends on how we readjust our thinking towards peace. Violence has had dire consequences in other parts of the world. In Africa, especially in the Congo, beautiful women are raped and vaginas rip from their bodies by rival soldiers. How can the world deal with this menace by executing poor decisions that have sent United Nations defenders that have also satisfied its sexual appetite with the juice from raped women and girls? It is a tragedy for nations to send a decrement of support soldiers for a country that is on the eve of destruction, which is like trying to a mosquito with a toddlers hand.
In addition, someone murdered my cousin, Christopher Jones. The young barely grown punk shot him four times in his head and face for arguing over a bicycle. He died on the way to the hospital. Black people, it seems, have not seriously dealt with the possibility that their survival is hanging on a string. Black people congregate at a park, and after hours of drinking and smoking marijuana, one black man decides that he needs more attention from the ladies that love fools, and began talking and cursing another. Now that he has the attention of the ignorant women, he forgets the man whom he is arguing with will not tolerate embarrassment, so he decides to talk louder. Well, now that they have the attention of the women, a gunfight is more appealing in showing that they are tough. So one of the men pulls out a gun, then the other pull out a gun, and hours later, one of them is laying face down in police chalk on the sidewalk. Vernon Johns the great civil rights leader often preached, “…that if you see a good fight, get in it…”
Americans are devaluing the work of law officials by their inept commitment to curve their children from violence. If continue to sit idly by and compromise our democracy with apathy, an American pretending to be a terrorist, whom his classmates tease, would be igniting the next explosion in the inner cities. Nonviolence is our weapon to fight violence, and it is a fight we can agree that need immediate attention before we all become unheralded victims. If we keep failing to avert our desire to harm another, the next blood we see could be ours hasten by a person who possibly could be our relative. We have no other alternative, but to build bridges of love, or keep overpaying morticians for the continued young generation who thinks it is a game to put another in a grave. We must do everything that we can, to disrupt the plans of these violent individuals, so the young children of our hearts could bloom and change this world for the better. “When you see a good fight, get in it.” Violence, corruption, domestic violence, drugs and vices in our communities is our fight, and now is the time for everyone who cares about prolonging life on this earth to enlist for duty.
