Check Out These Adorable Pics

Last month, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) put out a call for photos of adopted shelter dogs hanging out with their favorite nonhuman pals in their new homes.
And, they got tons of photos of adopted pooches hanging out with birds, horses, cats, kittens, other pooches and, even amphibians. Their judges then had the difficult task of selecting five finalists from among the landslide of fabulous photos they received.
And now, they need your opinion. Please check out the linked website, and vote for your favorite dynamic duo. The photo receiving the most votes will be announced in December.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness some truly marvelous cross-species animal friendships, some of them right in my own home, and some of them during our pet rescue efforts after Katrina. And, our pets often put us humans to shame. They will far more often very readily accept beings completely different from themselves, than we human beings will.
And to me, rescued pets are always the most affectionate, and the most appreciative, and the most loving creatures around anyway. There’s probably even one waiting for you, at your local animal shelter, right now.
And I have to tell you, I really like all five of these adorable ‘critter pal pictures.’ But I’m not going tell you which pair I voted for.
