Just fourteen years old and living in Shrewsbusry Massachusetts, Rose Steven’s life is like any other teenager’s until one fateful day when she decides to go for a walk in the woods. As she walks past the basketball court, she catches sight of her friends Kyle and Randy but does not stop to speak to them.
Three days later Rose wakes up in hospital with little memory of what happened to her in the woods except for a vague feeling of having met someone with ‘red eyes’. While recuperating in hospital, she learns that Kyle and Randy were brutally mauled by a creature. Kyle died a gruesome death on the spot and Randy succumbed a few days later.
Once out of hospital, Rose’s nightmare begins. She is mesmerised by this mysterious creature and meets with him on her way to and from school. It is a strange mix of attraction and revulsion, but Rose is unable to tear herself away from this half beast half man she nicknames Quench. Terrible things begin to happen in the little village of Shrewsbury. One by one, Rose’s school mates are found brutally murdered. What baffles the police is that although prior to their deaths Rose was seen with each of the victims, Rose herself seems to be innocent of any involvement in the killings.
