25 April is the World Malaria Day and i dedicate this poem to that wonderful day and encourage health institutions to continue their war with the disease.
With pills we can kill but treatment is not a solution we better attack the enemy at the base. Let us destroy its breeding grounds. Prevention is a necessary measure to take to combat malaria. War with Malaria is a moral equivalent of war against terror. In every village of the malaria affected areas, let us find a model family that can take the lead of the war against malaria so that other families shall follow suit. Long live the International Day of Malaria
She is not my visitor
Not a friend either
Not a family member
Yet it lives with us
Feeds on us to its fill
It is that tiny insect
That creature of death
In english it is mosquito
In somali it is kaneeco
The Swedes call it a moskit
It is a living terror
A Terrorist-in-flight
Cruising in the dark
Droning with rage
Imposing danger
Attacking the family
Biting the young
Stinging the old
Injecting pain
Causing disease
Spreading Malaria
We have two ways to fight
Curative and preventive
We better fight at both ways
to deny enemy to escape
Let us seal off all routes
