The Death of Love…The Last Connection

My China, my sweet kitty is nearing death. He is only 3 years old, but the shock of losing his mama… (My wife) has been too much for him to take. The last trip to the vet ended with the words, “Enjoy what time you have left with him”. I asked is he in pain, and the doc said no. I have done all there is to do in which to save him…much like I did with Leah, yet still to no avail…In an odd sort of way, it is like watching her die all over again…I know that many will not understand this, or even equate the parallel…but it is how I feel at this very moment in time. When he does pass…he shall lie by Leah’s rose, for he was her baby.

The Death of Love…The Last Connection

I remember the joy that you brought me China; I remember the three of us with a smile.

I remember the games we used to play and all the sweet memories that will remain awhile.

I remember how you would sneak around corners and lie in stealthy wait for me.

I remember so many good things about YOU…HER, and ME.

Yet now I just watch you slowly die, and it breaks an already fragile and broken heart.

Oh now as I look into your kitty cat eyes; I see HER, I see YOU, and how you too will part.

If I thought this home was silent before, I wonder now how much more the silence will be.

I promise you, even though to some you are just a cat…I will like unto Leah be there for thee.

So long now my little one…may your journey to the other side be one of a soft sweet sleep.

I will miss you so very much, and even though you are to some just a cat…I WILL weep.

So I ask this of my GOD…I ask how much more can this my tender heart take.

If there is such a thing as a kitty cat heaven, it is there that I am sure you will make.

I will miss you China so very much…you were a part of her, OH GOD, I HAVE LOST SO MUCH.
