Inspired By Observing Our Latest Orphan,
And By One of My Favorite Old Songs:
Ventura Highway by America
Lyin there, in the tall grass
So all alone, out on the road
He’d been in agony, a long time
With a broken leg, nowhere to go
Two months now, since I found him
Out there in his hell, on that highway
Abandoned, then struck down by a car
But now, he’s growin stronger, every day
He’s finally free of his constricting old neck cone
His splint and bandage, have now been removed
He is finally gaining some much needed weight
And today, he is in a newly found, joyous mood
He now very happily waits for me to let him outside
Where he now loves, stretchin out in our backyard
Where he wags his tail, while takin in the fresh air
Happy that his days and nights, are no longer hard
Highway, out in Autumn’s warm sunshine
Where his days, are now, so much brighter
His nights are now no longer, filled with pain
And now, he wants to stay right here, forever
'Cause the sun is shinin down on him
And joy surrounds his new life here
No more cryin out in despair
Happiness in the air, in the air
