Down the Road & Over the Hill

Some people are so stressed out as this time of the year gets near. I look forward to it each year as I start my shopping right after the Christmas holidays are over for the next year.

Down the Road & Over the Hill
November 2, 2009
Written by: Rose Marie Rideout

Something to look forward to
Just down the road & over the hill
Christmas is around the corner
and it makes some people ill.

How quick they seem to forget,
Christa says don’t put a price on love,
Christmas is the time to celebrate,
The birth of our Father up above.

A gift, a gester, a kind thought or two,
A five dollar gift Debi said will kindly do,
Fee said it don’t have to be big or small,
Just a token from your heart that’s all.

Rose said just for one year, plan it well ahead,
Knit mitts, hats or make quilts for their bed,
Fred says it doesn’t have to be bought,
A gift made from love, What a wonderful thought.

Lena said imagine a painting, baked goods to enjoy,
A simple gift from the heart can make one cry,
Johnny says give your time to someone you love,
Is like giving a gift to our Father above.

So this year have something to look forward to,
Enjoy it don’t be like so few
For down the road & over the hill,
Is the time of year that should give you a thrill.
