in spite of all pitfalls and blackballs ...

As long as I retain my feeling
and my passion for nature/life,
I can partly soften or subdue my
other passions and resist or endure
those of others ...

Is being germane,
Or respected,
Or a topic of controversy,
Or a firebrand,
Or an example to be fashioned after
(In a world of users and givers)
Carry a greater advantage
When the last winter draws near?

Can I love you more than I love me?
Can I love me the way that you love you (?), or
Is it we both tolerate only a second rate caricature
Of someone we thought WE were supposed to be
And then judge what we do in light of them?

If truth be told,
I began in convergence
Just like you,
A divine revelation, (perhaps) or
A sperm lucky enough to find the egg,
The passions of MALE and FEMALE merging,
A momentary lapse of morals
(Possibly)
Finding a kind of fruition,
Without scrupulous filtering,
Or evolutionary impediment;
Or something more cryptic
To equivocate things
Even more;

I (we) became something unique,
BIRTHED
Just like you,
Against all odds
And all wars that
Raged against possibility.
I became me
(In a world of individuals)
Endeavoring to be apprehended,
IN SPITE OF all pitfalls and blackballs,

Ever grappling to realize
A consummate expression,
(Whether accepted or not)
Another ego espousing humility;
A feathered idealist treed in a system
Repudiating mans despairing struggle to
Be more than just a hollow sound in a global
Village of meez and yuze vying to one up
The swarm of prigs all maneuvering to
Lord it over everyone around them
(You know who you are)

And on and on it goes,

In this world of friends and foes,
And regardless where the river flows,
And despite who thinks the flower is wilted,
I have found this one concept unfeigned,
That until my leaf falls from the tree,
Eye will continue being me

(Yarn-dye)
