So We Have Written A Book
By Jerry Pat Bolton

Original form of poetry I call "Septcouplet." The Septcouplet consists of seven free-style verses, with six lines each, no syllable count. After each verse there are two lines which rhyme, with four syllables to each line. The style is lowercase, except for proper names, punctuation when needed inside the lines, but none at the end of lines.

madness, blunders, peccadilloes and prudence

insidiously savage our thoughts

diabolically eat away at sense of right and wrong

like lepers picking at sores

feeding on our sins, we are possessed

we pay ourselves back with bloody black ink

the words we write

light up the night

joyously we travel down the written corridor

thinking of tears that flow

scabs which never heal are part and parcel

of being bastards and bastardettes

compulsory evil as it were

our rewards are line after line of gobbledygook

the smell of ink

and we're in sync

who holds the puppet strings

causing our fingers to one-finger tap-tap-tap

words of pompousness

or scribe with quill (maybe Sage)

conceiving and writing and producing

from tortured breast like archaic scribe whores

the world will swell

our yarns to tell

inside our thought is stealthy elation

wringing out words, commas, semi-colons

full-stop periods

full-scale riots inside our brain

life comes alive, people live and talk

where before they were sightless, mute and dead

we make them real

with such appeal

murder and lust, love and deceit

woven throughout our fantastic book

painting pictures

grunting grunts, wailing tears

bringing jackals to justice

heroes standing tall

we are so proud

we scream aloud

book is done, printed with it's very own  ISBN

wide smile becomes puckered brow

wheredowegofromhere

making your own website

press releases, finding good search engines

the adulation does not compute to real-time sales

this is no fun

what have we done

print-on-demand the writers dream

easy now, editors and publishers be damned

we find we are stranded in a vast ocean of books

hoping that just that one person will read it

like banking on the lottery

our exuberance has succumbed to cold hard truths

how about that

its like combat
