The Halloween Ball was a success. Thanks to all who read our horror and humorous Halloween poems and all who attended the ball. Now it's time for more gentle and beautiful thoughts.

Always Here
By La Belle Rouge
there was never enough joy
to outweigh the heavy sorrow
nor smiles to dry the tears
but then there comes a time
when tears cease to fall
having been futile in the past
we understand this, don’t we?
you and I know about tears
and time…. how it stretches out
like a desolate highway to nowhere
yet we walk until our feet blister
and our hearts begin to fail
on a long journey we tire of
if there is a thing called forgiveness
there is no forgetfulness
except in dreams or death
if your heart is hard and cold
let it not be so toward me
mine is supple and warm toward you
I could not be where you were
when you were alone and cold
when you still had hope
but I am here now, far but near
always here, always here
when you muse on the myth of love
as melancholy poets often do
then you swear it’s only an illusion
think of me, remember me
flesh and blood a nuance of love
far but near, always here
forever here
