A Cuban Cigar And A Can Of Coors

Have you ever enjoyed a joke with a ghost? I have, many times.
I can almost hear him laugh.

I thought of you today, Colonel
your wisdom, your objectivity
the way you could bark orders
and still seem like a teddy bear
that sharp intellect and dry wit
artist’s hands, big heart of love
impish man, romantic and playful
always ready for a poetic romp
across the pages of Indian chief
Civil War colonel, dastardly pirate
or dark, frozen Swedish mountains
you were the most wicked vampire
I’ve ever known, except for myself
and I was missing you, My Friend

So in an affectionate tribute
I lit up my imported, Cuban cigar
popped the top on a cold Coors
choked on the thick smoke and
poured the beer on the ground
thinking of you and pondering
”How could he drink this crap?”
