Seventy Years

This poem was written as a request from Rick in San Diego for his dear Aunt who will celebrate her 70th year in the convent with a special Jubilee, this weekend.

A wise and noble woman of conviction, grace, and love;
Your life embraces purpose as you serve Our Lord above.
For seven decades, you have given your heart to the souls in need,
 The convent has been your mission; true kindness has been your creed.
You have shared your faith with others and in turn, helped them to grow;
You have truly made a difference in more ways than you could know.
You have touched the lives of many - God’s own children, one and all -
The world today is brighter, since you chose a Higher call.
You have witnessed many changes during your time as a nun;
Yet, your duty is as certain as the early morning sun.
Your life remains committed to the Lord we hold supreme,
Thus, your selfless years of service are worthy of much esteem.
Today, we join to commemorate your seventieth Jubilee,
Honoring your dedication and your life of dignity;
A fitting celebration for a woman, Heaven blessed,
You have redefined the meaning of always giving your best.
We thank you for your friendship, your service and your choice,
As we pause to commend you, indeed - let us rejoice.
A wise and noble woman whose faith has ceased all fears,
You are an inspiration; thanks for seventy years!
