Our Wild Rose

A poem about weathering the tough times and enjoying love's "wildness."

Our love is like a wild rose
Sprawling across the miles
The kind to make you stop and pose
With the warmest of smiles
Priceless, yet true; precious and sure
To last through summer’s tests
Our love is destined to endure
Stronger than most have guessed

Our love is like the brilliant rainbow
After a summer’s rain
The kind you see outside the window
Whose beauty shall remain
Regardless of distance between
Or hardships we must face
Our love, like the rainbow, is seen
For its lingering grace

Our love is like a grain of sand
Solo, yet mighty still
The kind that takes you by the hand
And guides the heart until
You find yourself within a place
Where romance freely grows
A garden of lingering grace
Thanks to our wild rose

Our wild rose will lead us home
Although we are apart
Across the miles, strong roots will roam
And bind inside the heart
Then, once the time is finally right
The hardships and the gloom
Will wander far away from sight
As our rose starts to bloom
