Thanksgiving Parody poem to be sung to the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree" - poem or whatever the heck it is by ellen george

I am in a down/silly mood so work with me!

Sing the following to the song
"Oh Christmas Tree"

Happy Thanksgiving Day,
Happy Thanksgiving Day,
It's only once a year.

Washing the turkey bird so slippery,
the gullet and the gut to be set free,

Oh Thanksgiving Day,
Oh Thanksgiving Day,
You really are a pain.

The fight of whose families' stuffing is the best.
The macho guys fight for the turkey breast bone and legs.
The exhaustion of cooking all the crap that will still be there.

Oh Thanksgiving Day
Oh Thanksgiving Day,
Am glad you are here today -

The men rushing to the TV sets,
to see the football games and yet,
Desserts aren't served, and coffee's cold.
And fine china is thrown in the sink,
and silverware goes in the drink.

Oh Thanksgiving Day
Oh Thanksgiving Day,
Are we having fun yet?

Sending leftover food to all the guests
So you can use the fridge again.
To give folks their coats
and you can sleep.

Oh Thanksgiving Day
Oh Thanksgiving Day
It comes but once a year.

To see the ones you love
laugh until the snot shoots through their noses,
to yell for your favorite football that always loses,

To remember those who aren't here, but
are in our hearts so very dear,
Oh Thanksgiving Day
Oh Thanksgiving Day
It's not all about the food.

To send my love to each of you,
to know you're remembered every day -

Forget the chow and remember thanks and love
Every day is Thanksgiving Day.

Oh Thanksgiving Day
Oh Thanksgiving Day
I'd rather go to Piccadilly and not have
the dishes to clean up.

I told you this wasn't going to be Poe or Eliot.
Just a thanks for reading my work and sometimes commenting on it!

Happy Thanksgiving 2010

ellen george
