Martian Invasion! (Part One)!

A town is taken over by extraterrestrial beings.

If I didn't know any better, I would say that we have been invaded.  

The signs are all there: burned up trees, buildings, debris littering the countryside, utility poles knocked over, widespread power outages, reports of people being abducted or even killed ...

The attacks appear to be from out of this world.  There have been numerous sightings of strange-looking objects during the night and several people have reported seeing frightful, odd-looking creatures roaming about.

Police officials have warned people to stay indoors and to lock their doors and close all windows.  It is not fit to travel lest spying eyes may be lurking around any corner ...

Our power has been on so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes out any time.  Seems that twilight (or dusk, after the sun goes down) brings on the start of the odd occurrances and it seems that each night, these invasions have increased with terrifying swiftness or frequency.  Just about every night for the past week we have had things happening.  Last night, as an example, I saw a spaceship: a gleaming silvery-blue orb in the star-studded, nighttime sky.  It hovered for about fifteen seconds before it disappeared just like that, like a burst of lightning during a thunderstorm.  

It isn't the first time I have seen a spaceship.  I saw one the other day, excepting this one glowed a brilliant harvest orange and it looked to be about as big as a house.  Thing was huge!!  It truly terrified me; I was praying to God that whatever was piloting the thing didn't catch sight of me!

I don't know what's gonna happen, but even the law and military can't seem to stop these ... these ... THINGS.  Several people have already been liquidated or shot to death and there have been newsflashes of people being abducted by these creatures.

So far I haven't seen any of these space critters, but one thing IS for sure: if I do, I'd probably die of a heart attack!!  Suddenly things are very bad and it looks like they may only get worse, from what the newscasts have said thus far ...
