Lost and Found -- Children's halloween story - Teaching salvation

If you were lost, who would you want to find you? Jeff didn't want Cassie telling him what to do, but he knew who to call when he was all alone and scared.

LOST AND FOUND

"Now, stay with Cassie," little Jeff's Mom said as she gave his Sponge-Bob shoulder one last pat.    Because Jeff's Mom had broken her leg the week before, Jeff would have to go Trick-or-Treating with his big sister, Cassie.   Cassie was like a second mother, always telling him what to do, and Little Jeff didn't like being treated like a baby!
"Please let me go by myself, Mommy," he pleaded.   "I'm big enough.   Cassie is too pokey!   She's no fun!"
But his mother insisted, so off they went, Cassie trailing behind in her regular clothes; Jeff strutting ahead of her in his square yellow Sponge-Bob suit.
"Slow down, Jeffie," scolded Cassie, but Jeff pretended he didn't hear her.   In and out of yards they went, going to one house after the other, with little Jeff eagerly knocking on the doors, holding out his bag for treats.
Meanwhile, it got darker and darker, and started looking spooky outside!   Still, Jeff led the way, as his bag got fuller and heavier, but he was feeling very afraid, and now he had goose-bumps on his skinny arms.     He tried hard to be brave.   Suddenly, Jeff stopped short!    Where was his sister?
"Hey,"  he whined,  "You're supposed to be taking care of me,  Cassie!   Where are you?"
Children in halloween costumes were walking up and down the block,  but Cassie was nowhere to be seen!    She had disappeared!
Worse yet, little Jeff didn't even know where he was! None of the houses looked familiar, and there were big, creepy bushes in the shadows.   They reached for him with their branches,  shaking their few remaining leaves at him.
"There must be wild animals in those bushes!"  Jeff thought, beginning to sniffle.   As Jeff stood there, big, salty tears started to slide down his cheeks.   He was glad that at least no one could see them inside his Sponge-Bob face.
"Cassie!" he called again in a little, shaky voice.   "Cassie, come here! I can't see you!"
"Jeffie! where are you?"    That sounded like -- yes, it was!   He was sure glad to hear that familiar voice!   It was Cassie, his big sister, the same big sister he had wanted to leave at home.   Maybe he did need her after all.
"Jeff!   Am I glad to see you!"   Cassie threw her arms all the way around the big sponge that was her little brother, and gave him a giant hug!   Jeff had to hang onto his bag, but he smiled inside his costume. With one last sniffle, his tears turned off, as if they had just been wiped away with a big, yellow sponge.

Do you think Cassie loved her little brother?
How do you know?
While Jeff was lost, did Cassie search for him?
How can you tell?
Some things changed when Cassie found little Jeff.
What changes did you notice?
Do you think he stayed close to Cassie after that?
Why?
If you were lost, who would you want to find you?

Jesus talked about one sheep that was lost. He said the shepherd ( the person who takes care of the sheep) went to search till he found the lost sheep.   Then He said that He, Jesus, is the Good Shepherd.
Jesus truly loves children, and men and women, too.    We are like His sheep.    But we are like lost sheep because we have sin in our hearts.    Sin is the wrong things we do.   It keeps us away from Jesus, because He is perfectly good.
If you want to be Jesus' little lamb, He wants you to invite Him into your heart.      Jesus bled and died on a wooden cross to take the
punishment for your sins, and for everyone else's sin, too.   God told us about it in His book called the Bible.   He said that Jesus paid for our sins on the cross, and then came alive again.
If you believe what God said, you can ask Jesus to take your sins away and come into your heart to stay.    Then you will be His own little lamb, and you'll never be lost in sin again.

Scripture  (I've used KJV, but prefer an easier-to-understand version for children especially, such as NIV
from John 10:
I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.
.......My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
from Luke 15:
what man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.........
...I say unto that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth,......
