C.E. Gatchalian is a writer based in Vancouver, Canada. A poet, fictionist, playwright, critic and translator, he is an alumnus of the University of British Columbia's prestigious Creative Writing program, where he received his BFA and MFA. His first play, Motifs & Repetitions, aired on Canada's Bravo! channel in 1997. His next play, Claire, was produced in Vancouver in 1999. His features and criticism have appeared in various publications, including the Georgia Straight, the Vancouver Review, and the Vancouver Sun. He has poetry and fiction published in shampoo and the Muse Apprentice Guild, and has literary non-fiction forthcoming in sub-Terrain. His first book, Motifs & Repetitions & Other Plays, has just been shortlisted for the prestigious Lambda Literary Award.
