An amazing true story of human survival. A former award winning police officer has written two books called COP OUT and LEGAL MINDS, both available through Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, and other online retailers. The author's second book, co-authored with Dr. Roxanne Davidson is called LEGAL MINDS. This book is a must read for anyone concerned with bad cops, how to detect bad cops, what to do or say if arrested, and other interesting law enforcement issues. First the story of COP OUT.
COP OUT goes into detail about how Mr. Davis, a former young police officer, was influenced by a corrupt senior officer on the New Orleans Police Department in the1970's and committed a crime while on the job as a young naive officer. Later he was arrested, and became a fugitive from justice for 22 years. Much of his time was spent living as a nomad in various woods and forests, and other cities in Canada and the United States.
The book ends with the officers' eventual surrender to law enforcement in 2001. He essentially "banished" and "incarcerated" himself for 22 years while living in various forests and many cities without family, friends, or any support. He survived for over two decades. The author now conduct interviews with various television stations and speaks to youths, schools, groups, and various organizations about avoiding crime and corruption. He is particularly focused on admonishing youths about the dangers of crime. The author has dedicated his life to exposing corrupt police officers and their unfair tactics.
It is a true memoir, based on the time periods of 1977-2001. This book is a very excellent inspirational story about overcoming incredible odds. The books' central theme is transformation and repentance. What was especially interesting about the author's past life is that he was a former devout atheist. The book details the cities, states, and national forests he lived in, how he survived in the woods, how he dealt with the harsh elements, what animals he hunted and consumed, how he dealt with loneliness, and other interesting events.
His articles and books such as LEGAL MINDS, co-authored with Dr. Roxanne Davidson, are both interesting and useful, dealing with such questions as:
Tips for females to avoid the crime of rape, tips to help one detect bad cops if stopped and what to do, what to do and say if you're arrested, should you take a lie detector test, what to do and how to act if jailed, clemencies and extraditions, paroles and probations, illegal police interogation tactics, felonies and misdeameanors, summons and warrants, searches and seizures, and many other subjects.
His book COP OUT was so unbelievable when first released that WAFB channel 9 television station in Baton Rouge, Louisiana investigated his story for weeks, and aired a special documentary about the author's life in early May of 2007 by WAFB special reporter George Sells. In addition, Clarence Buggs, a well known and respected conservative talk show host with WJBO radio station stated that " COP OUT " was one of the most fascinating books I ever read". He further stated, " Author Robert Davis was the first author he interviewed or allowed on the show. Major Reginald Brown, Chief of Constables of the East Baton Rouge Parish Constable's Ofifice and well known radio talk show host of the show "Major Topics", stated that COP OUT was a fascinating read.
Mr. Davis is working with Mr. Stephen Peach, author of Friendly Fire: Good, Bad, Corrupt Cop, an ex-swat police officer from California, who has dedicated his life to exposing rogue officers and Mr. Mike Madigan, a reporter from California and author of Twisted Badge. The author also has created an alliance with Copwatch, a national agency designed to promote public safety by assuring that all police officers are accountable for their actions. Together, they all are dedicated to revealing bad law enforcers.
It's been reported that Mr. Davis was soo sickened by his past almost 30 years ago that he has embarked on a dangerous but noble assignment... to author his "tell all" book about bad cops and investigate and expose all bad law enforcers. The author currently assist citizens across the country with police abuse and police brutality issues, despite the many threats he receives from bad cops.
The foreword to Cop Out was written by Father George Clements, former pastor of Holy Angels Church in Chicago, Illinois. Father Clements is an internationally known priest and human rights advocate. Father Clements has championed and fought for human rights causes for over 50 years. He is the founder of One Church, One Child, an organization that challenges churches and their members to adopt at least one child. Many states have implemented his program nationally. A major motion picture was made about Fr. Clements entitled " The Father George Clements Story". The movie starred actors Lou Gossett Jr., Carroll O' Conner, and Malcolm Jamal Warner.
As a token of his personal regret as a former rogue officer nearly 30 years ago, the author's proceeds from the sales of COP OUT are donated to some of his favorite charities. Some of his donations are to :
The Stop Rape Crisis Center, St. Jude Children's Hospital, The Prevent Child Abuse Center, National Federation for the Blind, The American Red Cross, Crime Stoppers, The Center of Hope for Women (a women's program administered by Bethany World Prayer Church), The Jewish Foundation, The Working Interfaith Network (a unity of 30 churches of diverse faiths), The Son Edna Writers Foundations ( founded by Actor Morgan Freeman and his wife, Mrs. Myrna Colley-Lee), The YMCA and The New Orleans Police Foundation.
LEGAL MINDS is the author's second book, an exciting collaboration between Mr. Davis and well-respected author and professor Dr. Roxanne Davidson. Dr. Davidson is a Professor in the Behavioral Studies Department at Southern University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. Mr. Davis was surprised how many of the elderly, common citizens, and simply people who were uninformed asked him common questions concerning common law issues! He then decided to write Legal Minds with Dr. Davidson. Dr. Davidson is acquainted and familiar with the various behavioral patterns of criminals as well as the many social issues that may contribute to crimes. LEGAL MINDS speaks not only about various crimes committed by criminals but the book examines the mentality and behavior patterns of various criminals.
Mr. Davis is happy to report that he consults with a noted criminologist and receives technical information and other preliminary data related to police arrest and other law issues from Attorney, Editor, and Criminologist Philip Matthew Stinson. Mr. Stinson's educational credentials are impeccable. He has an AAS degree in Administration of Justice from Northern Virginia Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Public and International Affairs from George Mason University, a JD ( law degree ) from The University of the District of Columbia, and a Master Degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Stinson currently is working on his dissertation for a PH.D at Indiana University in Pennsylvania. Mr. Stinson is also the Managing Editor of The Criminal Justice Policy Review. As you can see, he is very knowledgeable about criminal law. Mr. Stinson's research, coupled with the author's knowledge of bad cops, assist the author in revealing important information to the general public
All articles written by Robert Davis are his sole opinion and not the opinions of Dr. Davidson nor Mr. Stinson. In addition, all individuals in Mr. Davis articles are innocent until proven guilty. Legal Minds is not a technical manual. If you have serious issues with the law, the authors strongly advise you to seek the advice and counsel of a professional attorney.
