Christos Adamopoulos is a Greek Londoner who visits Greece to learn about his ancestors and his past. He is terminally ill and only has a few days to live. He has spent a few months in the villages where his parents were born, trying to make sense of his life. As the end of the summer nears, he realizes that he has to return home. On his way to the airport of Athens, he feels that his final journey home is a moment of inspiration that will enable him to come to terms with his life and see a pattern that he has never seen before. Every previous summer, Christos had experienced a moment of inspiration. He believes that the summer is a special season for him, and that his last summer is the culmination of all the moments that have defined his life. As he waits for his flight, he feels a surge of inspiration and tries to discern the pattern of his life. He feels as though the pattern created by all the previous summers is manifesting itself in the airport. He tries to discern the pattern and discover the meaning of the events that constitute his life. He meets various people who impact on his endeavor to understand what inspiration means for him. Divining inspiration becomes a source of strength, a means for him of understanding his place in the world and his relationship to those who inspired him during his life.
He meets various kinds of people who unwittingly help him in his endeavor to divine inspiration.
