Divining Inspiration
Divining Inspiration is now available on the PublishAmerica website. It will be available on Amazon.com in November. In this double-stranded narrative, the journey of life manifests itself in two men who live in two separate worlds. One strand of narrative is inspired by the other. At the end, the two strands of narrative intertwine, revealing which narrative is derived from the other. Christos Adamopoulos is a Greek Londoner who visits Greece to learn about his ancestors and his past. He is terminally ill and only has a few days to live. He has spent a few months in the villages where his parents were born, trying to make sense of his life. As the end of the summer nears, he realizes that he has to return home. On his way to the airport of Athens, he feels that his final journey home is a moment of inspiration that will enable him to come to terms with his life and see a pattern that he has never seen before. Every previous summer, Christos had experienced a moment of inspiration. He believes that the summer is a special season for him, and that his last summer is the culmination of all the moments that have defined his life. As he waits for his flight, he feels a surge of inspiration and tries to discern the pattern of his life. He feels as though the pattern created by all the previous summers is manifesting itself in the airport. He tries to discern the pattern and discover the meaning of the events that constitute his life. He meets various people who impact on his endeavor to understand what inspiration means for him. Divining inspiration becomes a source of strength, a means for him of understanding his place in the world and his relationship to those who inspired him during his life. He meets various kinds of people who unwittingly help him in his endeavor to divine inspiration. Tasso Voukas is a Greek author who lives in Kyparissia. He is writing his first novel, which is about Christos Adamopoulous, the terminally ill man waiting for his last flight back home. Voukas sits before his laptop and tries to come up with new ideas. Anastasia, his wife of thirty years, encourages him to finish his novel. He has always believed that Anastasia is his muse. He believes that she has the power to inspire him and change the way he looks at the world. As he makes progress with his novel, he learns that his wife has cancer and that she has a short time to live. He abandons his novel, believing that without the love of his wife, he will never have the inspiration to complete it. But his wife tells him to finish what he started.
