Darlene Solomon-Rogers is a native Oregonian, born and raised in NE Portland. Darlene is currently working on getting a publisher for her first book a children’s story, Entitled “ Black girl can I comb your hair?” due to be released this year. At this time she has released a limited edition chap book of poetry of the same name. Darlene believes that through her misery God has given her a ministry. She mentors youth and single mothers. She volunteers as a motivational speaker for women in domestic violence shelters. She works for a non-profit organization assisting homeless youth and displaced families. She plans to release her own compellation of music and sound in May 2006.
Her love for poetry and music has allowed her to perform with or share the stage with local groups such as the Liv Warfield and the Warfield project, Blacknotes and Reparations, Lifesavas, Ray Frazier, Sirens Echo and Overnight Success. She is a founding member of the SC (Spiritual Clan) a group of performers, writers and activists whom have vowed to make a change in their community.
