Dave was born in St. Louis, MO but grew up in Wichita Kansas. He was influenced as a young boy by the songs of John Denver and the competiveness of Jimmy Connors. Dave's mother is the one to be credited for getting him interested in tennis and his father with his athletic prowess.

Dave was the Hitting Coach for Venus and Serena Williams from 1992-99. He has coached ATP, WTA and Nationally ranked tennis players. He is a National 35 Doubles Champion and twice a Florida State Doubles Champion. He is a competitive marathon runner and coach of a speed, strength and footwork program called 'Futuremetrics'. He has been a guest on NBC, CBS, USA, ABC and has been featured in numerous publications, such as Tennis Week, SI for Women and the New York Times. His athletic career began in Kansas where he was an All-Conference collegiate player in tennis and basketball.

Dave's book, Venus & Serena, has sold over 550,000 copies and is in 7 different countries and 3 languages. He has been a featured author at The bookexpo America in New York City. His next book, The 100 Best tennis Lessons,is already in development and should be out in spring of 2012.
