Deborah Raney's first novel, A Vow To Cherish, inspired World Wide Pictures' highly acclaimed film of the same title. Her 2001 novel, Beneath a Southern Sky, won the Romance Writer's of America RITA award, the highest award given in the genre. Background Information

After more than twenty years as a stay-at-home mom, Deborah began writing as a way to put her children through college. Alway an avid reader, she was probably most influenced by the books of the late Catherine Marshall and the late Eugenia Price. Now the author of more than a dozen books, both fiction and non-fiction, Deborah continues to write from her home in Kansas.

Accomplishments

Deborah is the winner of the coveted RITA award from Romance Writers of America, two-time nominee and winner of the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award, a Christy Award finalist, as well as the recipient of several other awards.

Deborah's novel, A Vow To Cherish, was a 1997 winner of Excellence in Media's Angel Award. Deborah writes contemporary fiction and is known for her sensitive portrayals of family relationships. She has also coauthored two non-fiction books, Children's Sermons To Go and More Children's Sermons To Go, with her sister, Vicky Miller.

Additional Information

A Vow to Cherish is now available on video and on DVD in seven languages. The DVD also features extra material including a special director's cut. The novel is available in a large print, hard cover edition and is also available in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian translations. In June 2006, Steeple Hill will reissue the novel in an updated format. All of Deborah's titles are now availble in large print, hardcover editions. Kindred Bond is also available unabridged on audio tape.

The Storytellers' Collection: Tales of Faraway Places and Tales from Home
These books are compilations of short stories written by an online authors' group, ChiLibris. The authors have agreed to donate all royalties from the books to The Jesus Film Project and Prison Fellowship Ministries. Deborah's story, Haiti's Song, was inspired by her parents' work with an orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti. Her short story, Prairie Lessons, from the second volume, is set in her home state of Kansas.
