I was adopted at the age of eighteen months by the two most wonderful parents in the world.
My mama and daddy have been powerful influences in my life...my mama taught me how to love unconditionally and be a giver from the heart. My daddy taught me the importance of 'working', not to expect others to support me. Neither were educated, but both were the epitome of 'good common sense' living.
My daddy went to heaven on 5/7/07 at the age of 93, and my mama went to be with him 12/22/10,at the age of 96, with her mental faculties still working...her gain, our loss! Christmas Eve will never be the same, as that was Mama's burial day-12/24/2010. But at least she had a wonderful Christmas, one that far surpassed anything she's ever experienced in this life!
In September, 2010, I finally found a full-time job which has truly been a blessing! Life is for sure an adventure and has been now since 2004. Every year I find myself looking for a new beginning of getting my life back on track and being able to live without my Mama! It's hard to even fathom my daily routines without her. Robert Frost said, "Life can be summed up in three words-it goes on." So I will see what lies ahead.
Through the years I have written poetry, calling myself an inspirational poet, because I can only write when I get some inspiration from above, or from a word spoken.
My poetry is simple, rhythm and rhyme, but meaningful. Every poem ends on a positive note, as God is definitely the answer to any and all of life's problems.
The "Spicer" of Life, a book of my inspirational poetry, was published by AuthorHouse Publishers, pen name is D. S. Mullis.
Even though my book has been published, due to L I F E, and lack of financial stability after being out of work over 3 years, there is no income from publishing it...just a sense of self-worth in the midst of critics for an accomplishment that was a life long dream, thanx to my son, Josh Parham, who also has a self-published book, "Stuff You Can Say Everyday", one liner original quotes by him. He has actually had better results, though nothing substantial from his book sales. Neither of us are in a position to promote them.
I have posted some articles that I have written and also some short stories for a book that is almost complete...please read these at your leisure, and enjoy!
