Angela is an accomplished author, psychotherapist, scholar, painter, and mother. She holds two masters degrees (one in public health and one in social welfare) and two doctorates (one in social welfare and one in education) from the University of California, Berkeley, where she lectured in three departments for fourteen years. Dr. Browne-Miller’s areas of research, consulting, treatment and publication include: violence and abuse including family violence and domestic violence; substance and process addictions; mental health; belief systems and theology; education and intelligence; child and teen development; trauma; and the special problems of modern women. Her many books, articles, illustrations, and photographs have been featured extensively, both nationally and internationally, in lay and professional presses such as US News and World Report, The International Journal of Law and Psychiatry, The International Child Welfare Review, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Family Circle Magazine. She has discussed her work on national and local television and radio programs such as Talk of the Nation, the Oprah Winfrey Show, and major network documentaries, and at conferences and institutes including the National Broadcasters Association, The Aspen Institute, The International Conference on Violence Abuse and Trauma, The U.S. Army War College, and the American Academy of Psychotherapists. She has served as a National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral Fellow, a US Department of Public Health Fellow, and carried numerous other designate positions and titles. Dr. Browne-Miller has worked with several thousand people in psychotherapeutic, continuing professional education, and seminar contexts, addressing lifestyle change, trauma and abuse recovery, pattern and substance addiction relief, and learning issues.
