The primary influence behind the writing of this book is my great-grandmother, Rosie (1883-1976), known as "Big Mama" who was the daughter of slaves in Mississippi.  I am certain that neither Big Mama nor anyone else could have predicted the impact her life, (especially her prayer life), would have on myself and so many others. The constant images of Big Mama on her knees praying for what seemed then like eternity, will forever remain etched in the forefront of my mind. What a blessing to have lived with and now share the memories of such an extraordinary woman who spent countless hours of her life devoted to praying for others and for future generations, including myself. I live each day with a heart filled with warm memories, overflowing gratitude,  and a sense of pride for having known Big-Mama, my great-grandmother and the contribution she has made to my life and to the world through prayer.
