Background Information

Edmond Davis is a Historian, motivational Speaker, & author originally from Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  He has lived in Northern Louisiana throughout the undergraduate and graduate school matriculation processes.  He currently resides in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Edmond Davis possesses a Bachelor's degree in History & Geography and a Master's degree in History with an emphasis on Slavery, U.S. History since 1877 & the African-American Experience.  Mr. Davis plans to finish his first book entitled, "Airkansan: The Legacy of Milton Crenchaw " by 2009 & his Ph.D in History.  Mr. Davis is the author of several articles.  His latest entry is in the Encyclopedia Of Arkansas History & Culture under Milton Pitts Crenchaw & Arkansas Original  Tuskegee Airmen: 1940-1946 (AOTA).  In the winter of 2008 Davis was awarded a grant by the Black History Commission of Arkansas to further research the OTA's of Arkansas.  This information will be marketed and used by all levels of education in the state of Arkansas.  Edmond Davis is believed to be one of the youngest African-American males currently teaching history in the state of Arkansas on the collegiate level.  He has taught at the University of Arkansas Little Rock (UALR), Pulaski Technical College & currently at Arkansas Baptist College.  According to sources the top inspiration in his life has been his father James Edmond Davis Jr.  Ed Davis is also a proud member of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated (current National Vice Chair of the History Committee 2007-08), The Grambling State University Alumni Association (Central Arkansas Chapter), The Louisiana Tech University Alumni Association, & has worked closely with the Judge Robert Decatur Chapter (Arkansas) of the Tuskegee Airmen Incorporated.   Edmond is a founding member of  the MYTHSLAYERS, a socially concise motorcylce club in Little Rock, Arkansas that promotes images of positive male role-models in various communities.  Edmond Davis recently was a panelist on the campus of Philander Smith College called, "The Black Male initiative" and it was sponsored by the "SAY IT LOUD" program and it's founder the multi-talented author & editor Mr. Patrick Oliver.  Edmond Davis is also a member of the Little Rock Chapter of the Black Male Development Syposium.  Edmond Davis has been a panelist for the 2007 Delta Sigma Theta "Delta Presents" Personal Development Program in December 2007.  In May of 2008 Edmond Davis was the keynote speaker for the 12th Operation "Skyhook" sponsored by the Black Pilots Of America (BPA Inc.) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  In June 2008,  Davis spoke at the Arkansas Historic Museum for their 2008 "Profiles in Black Arkansas History" program.  He is a member of the Arkansas Historical Association and the Pulaski County Historical Society.  In 2008 he is currently working on a project to start the MPC Flight Training Academy with the guidance of Mr. Willie C. Smith of Smith's International Airport.  Professor Davis was also a presenter at the 63rd Annual State NAACP Convention of Arkansas on September 13Th, 2008.  The new Groove Phi Groove National Website features Mr. Davis and a panel of other members.

Accomplishments

Edmond Davis is a highly regarded, educator, researcher, author, historian, motivational speaker, biographer, WebCT certified instructor, Speechwriter, TRIOS Scholar/mentor and student advisor. He has lectured at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and now currently teaches history at Arkansas Baptist College. He is a lifelong member of the Phi Alpha Theta National Historical Society. Mr. Davis has also served at Chapter secretary of Groove Phi Groove S.F.I. Tiger V affilate & currently serves as National Vice-Chair to the History Committee 2008-2009. Edmond Davis is responsible for the entry of the Honorable Milton Crenchaw to the Arkansas Black Hall Of Fame in 2007 & the Encyclopedia Of Arkansas History & Culture along with authoring the articles on The Original Tuskegee Airmen Of Arkansas.

There are several scholarly works pertaining to the advancement of the poor with regard to race, the Vietnam Conflict, democracy, and more recently the Tuskegee Airmen experience.
