Hello, I'm Elizabeth Hopkinson, author of A Short History of the Dream Library, The Delaford Ladies' Detective Agency, My True Love Sent to Me and more.
I live in West Yorkshire, home of the Bronte sisters and the Cottingley fairies, and studied English at the University of Leeds, which is where I was introduced to medieval literature and Lord of the Rings.
I've been writing all my life, and seriously since about 2003. Some of the places my stories have appeared include Interzone, the Dancing with Mr Darcy anthology, Strange Horizons, Dragons Knights and Angels, New Fairy Tales, Byzarium, the Bash Down the Door anthology and Cabinet des Fees.
I have also had an article in Mslexia about one of my favourite influences, the Lais of Marie de France.
Some of my own favourite authors include CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Jostein Gaarder, Juliet Marillier, Diana Wynne Jones, Jasper Fforde and Susanna Clarke.
I like fairy tales and medieval romance, Gulliver's Travels, 19th novels (both the Jane Eyre/Pride and Prejudice kind and the Ivanhoe/Three Musketeers kind), anime/manga, the countryside, playing the piano and drinking mocha in the old Bradford Wool Exchange.
