Eric Oberg is the author of "Moving Toward Harmony" a book on the principles of Aikido. Eric is also the founder of ikigai a meditative movement practice. This art focuses on relaxation and movement awareness as a way to discover inner peace.



Background Information

Eric Oberg grew up in Seattle, Washington. Eric first studied Judo as a child and began his Aikido training in 1982 at Seattle Aikikai under Bruce Bookman. He studied with Jeff Haller and Ellis Amdur at Inside Moves in Seattle. Eric acted as the Coordinating Instructor at Seattle School of Aikido from 1995 to 2001. He taught GentleAikido from 2000-2003 at The Space Withing. He now leads ikigai practices in Seattle, WA. Major influences include Taoist thought and Existential philosophy.

Accomplishments

Eric Oberg is the author of "Moving Toward Harmony". His article "Aikido: Being Present in the Learning Experience" was published in The Journal of Experiential Education. He has presented Aikido principles to Nordstrom, Gateway Athletic Club, Northwest Actors Studio, The Association of Experiential Education and the Univesity District Teen Shelter. Developed ikigai, a meditative movement practice.

Additional Information

Eric Oberg is currently leading ikigai practices in Seattle, WA. He also teaches Aikido and he is available for seminars in both of these disciplines. Eric is currently working on an expanded ikigai section at the Far Eastern Press Web site. You can see a quote in the Nov/Dec 2001 issue of New Age Magazine. Mavin Magazine issue 5 has a review of "Moving Toward Harmony".
