In my teens, I used to daydream a lot at the detriment of my school work. After my second breakdown, when I began taking medicine for my mental illness, I finally set down to writing those daydreams. They are not airy fairy nonsense about unicorns and rainbows, the dreams come up from my tortured subconscious and reveal my problems in symbolic form. My science fiction stories are my life set in metaphor. They say "Write what you know." Well, I know trauma. The first couple of books in the Beneath the Surface series are suitable for young adults, but the later ones are not. They get darker and darker as I describe deeper traumas. Not all are published. You can check my website for upcoming books.
