ADDICTION KNOWS NO CLASSES NOR BOUNDARIES
Addiction and abuse walk hand in hand and the end result is poverty. Yes, I felt sorry for the patients I saw who fell from grace, lost their jobs, lost their homes and lost their families. All were contributing factors and crime soon developed to support their habits. Substance abuse does take charge. Sometimes the mother is left to take control of the family and try to be patient with the father. And often both parents picked up the habit together. Grandparents took over from there.
I played the role of a playboy in the mountains for sixteen years and had no idea what the shelves were stocked with in today's pharmacies. I left when most products had brand names and the cost of the medications cheaper. Generics ascended rapidly on the popularity pole after I returned. For some reason I have maintained my license since graduating from pharmacy school. I assume that I worked and sacrificed so much to earn it I would never let it go. I took a break and figured I had worked enough in my life time. When word got out that I kept my license up to date pharmacy owners began knocking on my door.
I was asked to do relief work as a pharmacist in a mental health clinic and Detox center. That appealed to me. When first introduced to drugs they stocked in the pharmacy the pharmacist said, "All the drugs on our shelves are used for nothing but the mind. You won't have to pour or mix anything." I really had not seen a cluster of mental drugs not dispersed among the others like in pharmacies. It was different and easier to learn. I saw teenagers and all ages sitting in chairs with blankets wrapped around them like Indian Squaws. They had a bland complexion as if their face had been whitewashed. All had the shakes, were strolling up and down the halls, smoking and making phone calls trying to get the hell out of this place. They were detoxed with mental drugs allowing their addiction and hallucinations to dissipate. A few weeks of control and a release to leave worked for a while. Soon we sadly saw them addicted again to return for more treatments. The pushers didn't want to see the addicts slip away from their business. Substance abuse on the rise upset me and got my attention. From there it is the catalyst which precipitated my writing Fatal Addiction. I must warn you, it will be tough not to read from cover to cover before setting it aside. This book is excitement personified. Drug addiction is hooking the world even as we speak. I hear the words, "God bless you for writing this book" at all book signings.
Hopefully, everyone can appreciate what I have written. Pharmacy is my profession and I am trying to share the changes that I have seen most of my life. Drugs are wonderful when taken under the supervision of a doctor, his staff and the careful eye of a pharmacist. It's so easy to get hooked on anything that's available. I am sorry if you get upset with some segments you read, but it is in the media every day. I am not the first to expose it I assure you.
One nice lady whose children I helped raise said, " After reading Fatal Addiction you scared me and made me aware of what's happening in this town and everywhere. I want to thank you for making me aware of the dangers. My pocket book won't be in the grocery cart 'cause I have seen women lose them that way."
On my book signing table my posters tell the story; Help fight Drug Abuse. I beg you, stay away from the damn street drugs. Addiction is the first step to poverty. When addicted, an addict shows no concern for another's life.
Recently I read about a mother who was addicted to Oxy. Her baby worried the hell out of her crying because she had teething pains. So the dummy rubbed OxyContin on her pacifier. The baby overdosed and died. When her mother appeared in court the judge could do nothing but release her. He said he couldn't rule on bad judgment.
I had a book signing at a department store and a pretty lady saw my books and posters begging folks to help fight drug abuse. Finally she got the nerve to say, "I have to take Oxy for my arthritis." I asked her how long she had been on Oxy and she said five years. So ma'am, how much was the doctor prescribing to begin your dosages? "I began with 5 mg twice a day and today it is 100 mg a day." And you are still having the pain after five years?
Cold turkey in a Detox center will be what you will have to go through to stop your habit. "Oh no, I can't do without it." That is what we call hooked and addicted. That's your doctor's fault, if he's still prescribing it. "I am on a prescription." No ma'am, you are on a drug. Drug abuse touches every family and addiction knows no classes nor boundaries. I do want to say that I didn't write with the skill of hearts and flowers, I told it like it is. I might have stepped on the toes of resentment but I speak from my heart to make you aware of what really is happening every day. Please, I beg you, help me fight drug abuse.

Two Rotary Wheel Awards- Service Above Self.
First Place Award for Weekly Newspaper Writing.
Member of the year for Georgia Outdoor Writers.
Eight years of college, two degrees.
Owned two pharmacies and a Merry Christmas Shop in the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains.
Retired I thought to write my first book "Southern Winds" and that was all I had planned to write. But it doesn't work that way. Once you get the bug, there is no stopping. Like getting a case of the unmentionable word we golfers call the YIPS, I did learn the meaning of the words authors call Writers Block. That isn't contagious but it can happen lasting for minutes to days.
Since *Southern Winds* I began two books and completed a sequel.
I even had an agent but realized the value of writing *Fatal Addiction* ASAP. I had the knowledge and experience that I wanted to
share before it was too late so I politely tossed the sequel on the stack for another day.No one knows for sure but what I have written could really take place.
Being an outdoor writer for the past 25 years and a past president of the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association, I had over five hundred articles published. However, books have taken over my writing time.
*Fatal Addiction* took thirty months of my life many times spending ten or fifteen hours a day. With my latest composition, I sincerely feel
that I have created a future best seller. Fiction partially based on true happenings. *Fatal Addiction* is available on all book web
outlets. It can be ordered at most any good book stores. I thank you so much for your time and hope you tell others about *Fatal Addiction* before it really is too late.
Sincerely,
Everett Beal Rph.

Everett Beal's Life and advice to writers
I have appeared on nine T.V.shows and in two movies. I played a friend of Chuck Conners in one movie, and the other was"Cockfighters" starring Warren Oates and Greg Allman. For sixteen years my wife and I lived in the North Georgia Mountains where I wrote stories about tourism and began writing the manuscript for Southern Winds. It took three years to complete my book. One year was spent trying to locate a publisher, two years were wasted with an agent/publisher who turned out to be a "con". I was instrumental in taking this fradulent family who called themselves agents and publishers.I took the daddy con to the Better Business Bureau, winning my case(to no avail). I continued on to the Sec.of State, the Attorney General and to the FBI. Later, I learned that over 300 authors had lost collectively over three million dollars. This family of con artists was serving time and will have to pay a quarter of a million each when they
get out. Moral of the story for authors,
"Do Not Pay Up Front".My latest book Fatal Addiction, Glenda Ivey is the publisher and a dear friend. She has a heart as big as gold. She believes in "Authors helping authors." What a difference the day makes.I highly recommend this publisher.

| I realized the need to create book and art festivals to provide another area for deserving authors and artists to have many times their only chance to display their talents. I saw lots of happy faces that had been successful for beginning a new page of their lives. It is such a pleasure to discover new talent and share a taste of culture with communities. When we had our Christmas shop in Dillard, Georgia the purpose was to provide deserving mountain folk a location to show off their crafts and talents. What's wonderful, we will be returning to that area. Strange but my life has changed, I have returned to Griffin,Georgia to live in a condo.Folks tease us and say, "Uh Huh,they have no ties, so any day it could happen .Are they really getting the roaming fever again?" Who knows, it just happens.
Thirty months was over and I have completed one last proofing of my latest book Fatal Addiction. I keep hearing it will one day become a movie.I always reply," When you see me on the Today Show you will know it will be on the screen."Well,I have realized it is a hit and miss deal for the author. The title is a good beginning.Place your orders in the book stores and they will order any time. It is available now.
Thanks for the visit, have a nice day and please keep reading our books. They don't come easy. *Southern Winds*, *Fatal Addiction*. Thanks so much,
Everett Beal Rph
I had so many book signings and it was a pleasure to help these desperate visitors who needed help.
At one time I had 12 people gathered around my table while I lectured on Fatal Addiction and what was in it. I had addicts, recovering addicts, mothers with their children where their daddy had overdosed leaving all behind for mother to run the family and grandparents taking charge of their grand children while their children were in prison.
One last piece of wood on the fire, When I returned I sat down at my "puter" to catch up.I heard from a producer who is very interested in
turning Fatal Addiction into a screen play or a movie. You think that didn't grab me? Who knows, it could happen.)
