G.Emily Ann Zabar is a 20 years old writer, born in north Albania in the autunm of 1987. She started writing when she was only 6 years old and by the age of 16 she had published two books under her real name A.Gj.
Fortunately, her family was aware of the importance of education and they did several movements from one town to another to provide good education to her and her sister. These movements will defenitely influence her way of writing. And, as she always says, Albania had a great influence on her writings too.
Actually it can be seen in her fist book "Who stole the happiness?" , a collection of poetries written mostly about her country during the civil war, 1997. The book was published years later she was 13 years old.
Soon after this her biography was added to the Lezha's Personalities book with other well recognized personalities that have contributed to the cultural growth of her town.
At age 14, she will start studing at "Harry T. Fultz" American school in Tirana, the capital of Albania and another time she found herself started all over with her life, friends ecc. This will give birth to her second book "The Scales", a collection of poetic prose.
Mimoza Ahmeti one of the most well recognized female writers in Albania, will write the preface of the book pointing out the differences between the first book and the second one, ending the preface with " If she will continue writing, she will probably be one of the most remarkable writers of our country"
At age 16 "The scales" will be published by "Marlin Barleti" Editorial House.
At age 17, she will be one of the finalists of the British Council New Writers competition, and her poetries (which are part of her third book, the new coming book) will be published in the finalists book, printed soon after the competition.
She has published her writings also on several national newspapers and magazines.
On september 2006, G.Emily Ann will leave Albania and move to Italy where she now studies Economics and Management of Art, Culture and Communication at one of the mos prestigiouse Universities in Europe, "Luigi Bocconi" Commercial University in Milan.
After several years she had decided not to publish anymore, she is coming back with her third book "The trilogy of Silence" in collaborations with two romans photographers, trying to bring another form of art combination.
She says laughing : I am going to treat in a very commercial way my non-commercial book.
Grizhda Zabar has changed from the girl that wanted to change the world to the girl with a lot to say..she maybe decided that from all the "dishes" she "ate" writing will always be her favorite.
