Harry G. Potter The Gnome's Horde

Background Information

The short stories in The Gnome's Horde seek to unravel the mysteries and conspiracies which brought about the Fall of Nystol, the catastrophic destruction of the ancient "wizard-city."

A number of  obscure historians assert that Nystol's captive kingdoms existed for several thousand years, lasting even until the late medieval period, when at last its kingdoms dissappeared, very likely buried somewhere under the sands of the growing Sahara.

The pages of cryptic sentences I discovered seems to be an English translation from Saturnian-Age Latin, originally translated by one "Abbot Cromna," but the teller of the tales claims himself to be of the race of....gnomes???

The manuscript was thought early albeit unimportant fantasy writing and was left re-shelved in an obscure basement library until 2000, when I stumbled upon it and have worked diligently to peice together the eld histories.

Why did the power of the wizards wane? What prophecies have yet to be fulfilled? What does this have to do with the coming chastizement? The gnome narrates a series of stories and presents some elaborate lost histories, interviewing several witnesses who saw the violent fall of a wizard-city, Nystol.

Warning: these writings, by means of a shameless plundering of the classical western imagination, exploit fantastical themes of apocalypse and wizardry, weird creatures and underworlds.

Welcome and greetings from the real-life "Harry Potter"...my birth name. Of course it was impossible for my parents to predict the signifigance. Names have secret meanings and convey something not always explicable.

THIS IS NOT HARRY POTTER FAN WRITING.  I have never read the harry potter series, so there are no intentional thematic similarities with the famous book series.

The Fall of Nystol is the Third Book of The Master of Planets Trilogy.

These stories have Apocalyptic perspective, fantastic but anchored in realism, in metaphysic, and in faith.

These stories are no more phantasmogoric than Dante's Inferno. The work portrays an array of mythopoesis, legend-crafting, the retelling of transformative experiences that have lurked in the swamp of the collective human memory.

I have been writing wizard-fantasy since 1986, age 20, when I began to design the intermundane lands of Furthreach.

Soon it will be ready, so please mark the book at Lulu.com, this work is about wizardry, but not fan-fiction, not a "Harry Potter fix."

TRUE TRAVELERS If you love eld lore and wizard stories, you will be quite whigged-out by this!" -Harry

Recent PRogress NOTIFICATIONs

FeBruary2008 on Gnome's Horde from Harry: I have just got a quite serious inspiration for a Wizard Tale that MUST be included for the Gnome's Horde. I have added now 50 pages in the last month.

April2008: Its been a couple of months now, and the fifty extra pages have increased substantially. However I am suffering writer's block. Please pray for me to finish the Gnome's Horde. Thank you.

August 2008 I have made some considerable advances in plot structure, reworking et cetera, still going strong. I must let it sit a while

October 2008. Considerable progress, notable editing and plot understanding into view. Just a few more scenes and I can pull the monstrous thing together. Its over 700 pages now. Heavy editing must ensue. God determines when I create. I will need to create a trilogy format. I hope civilization will not end before I finish!

September 2009. Progress has been slower, however this month I have been concentrating on creating greater clarity in language, and re-arranging the opening so that it starts with action, the capture of Orbius. Some great innovative edits in the past year, and I have decided to cut out many extraneous story lines. I am thinking that it might be best to not have a trilogy.

December 2009  Granted special insight into brother Orbian's character and his fall from grace and the realization that this is the identity of the monk-Assassin in the Second Book of the Trilogy.  DEO GRATIAS. Also Decided to isolate the Gnomes' Horde, a series of short stories comparable to The Silmarillion in breadth, (including the Fall of Nystol), from the story line of Orbius. It is just too much to expect the reader to follow Orbius' story-line and all the short-story sub-plots simultaneously. The Master of Planets Trilogy will be a separate, related work.

Please TRACK THIS AUTHOR so that you will know when its ready. (I am predicting end of March)

former Publications: The Martyrdom, an epic poem illustrated in LUNG (a poetry rag of the Hyde Park poets in Chicago). The poem can viewed by following the link to my site below.
