Janie De Coster was always a reader. She would read books while other kids played outside. Eventually as she got older she began to write poems. Soon it advanced to short stories and essays. Her favorite authors are Terry McMillan, Eric Jerome Dickey. Carl Weber, Kimberla Lawson Roby and Cheryl Robinson.

Janie De Coster has been featured in SHE Magazine and also PEE DEE WOMEN'S INNERVIEWS MAGAZINE June 2007 issues. Both Magazines are available in South Carolina. Janie De Coster along with several other local authors from the beautiful state of S.C such as Minnie Dix, Cheris Hodges, Sunida E.York, Christine Young-Robinson and Frances Dubose Singleton was featured at The Black Expo 2007 on August 11 in Florence South Carolina. The event was great and Vickie Winans really brought down the house with her outstanding soulful voice. Janie's novel What My Sister Don't has been featured in Florence News & Journal June 2011.
