Hi There :-)
The writing bug hit me rather late in life, or at least I thought it did. However people always enjoyed my letters and so, at the age of thirty-five, to my complete surprise, the writing bug hit in 1970. I stated creative writing classes, began to pump out articles on the Medical Office workplace and 'Slice Of Life Stories'. I literally made a pact with God that if I could sell a story within two years, I'd take it to mean that I should get serious about it. My thought was to become another Erma Bombeck who wrote great satire about her husband and family. Well, I sold my first short story in 1972 and I was off and walking fast. You see I had three kids, a husband and a full time job in the medical field and so I ended up publishing more articles about the medical office workplace than anything.
Life changed for me in the late seventies with a divorce and again in 1982 when I met a Blue-eyed, Energetic Dancer by the name of Arne Blomquist, a Master Teacher Unaware.
Life changed again when we married in 1987 and again in 1990 when he was diagnosed with a deadly cancer in his neck and carotid artery. My first book Dance Interrupted chronicals our meeting, my decision to quit my job and sell my house in San Diego to search for a Quality Of Life for him via Holisitic/Alternative therapies instead of the chemo and radiation that destined to forever end his life as he knew it.
The book was awarded Honorable Mention in the Writers Digest contest, along with receiving some very nice Reviews. It also was awarded Runner-Up in the Allbooks Reviews Editor's Choice Awards, Inspirational category for 2005.
Life took another major turn when we were led to Sedona, Arizona where we found many caring people with a variety of therapies, remedies and treatments, some of which I had never heard of.
It was a dream come true when we learned that Arne was cured of his first cancer and a nightmare to learn he had another one, in his lung and he had run out of time to effect another cure.
Life took another turn when, after his passing in 1993 that I decided to write a memoir of our adventure in living with Quality of Life. Dance Interrupted is the product of that experience and was awarded Runner Up, 2005 All Books Reviews, Editor's Choice Award, (Inspirational Category.)
Having parted company with my publisher (Publish America)I've spent several years learning the ropes of marketing. I believe I have nearly enough material now to write a book, Book Marketing for Dummies.
Before leaving Sedona for Spokane Washington I colaborated and co-wrote a woman's fictional action/adventure novel, Legend Of The Spear, involving the pursuit of the Cup of Arimathaea and the Spear of Longinus.
I now know my passion lies in writing fast-moving, fiction novels.
