For reasons only now becoming clear, Joel has had a life long interest in the Maya. He still holds onto an English Composition term paper on the Mayan calendar from 1976. In 1987 it became generally known that the Mayan calendar had an "end date" of December 21, 2012. As the years went by, Joel contemplated its significance. In 1999 as the millenium approached, he researched in earnest, coincidentally finishing John Major Jenkins' groundbreaking work Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 on the winter solstice in 1999. That is where the synchronicities start and have continued unabated since. Jenkins discovered that the rising winter solstice sun in 2012 aligns with the area of sky containing our Milky Way's galactic center. Both astrologically and astronomically this position is located at the cusp of Scorpio and Sagittarius, which is Joel's date of birth. Through numerous synchronicities a prophecy of the end date developed. Over time the ensuing spiritual crisis took Joel the the biblical book of his namesake for the first time in his 47 years. Imagine his shock when the Book of Joel was discovered to be prophetic in tone and it matched what he had discerned from his Mayan research. Later, Nostradamus' quatrains (conveniently falling into a numbered pattern), the book The Bible Code, Ray Stanford's Fatima Prophecy, and the clues from the visionaries of Fatima and Garabandal were all found to be indicating the same form of a Chastisement upon the earth as had been predicted by Joel's visionary book, Cosmic Locusts. In addition to prophetic sources, scientific references confirming Joel's ideas were found after the book was written. Dr. Paul LaViollette indeed proposes the existance of galactic center energy bursts. Astronomers Clube and Napier theorize an ancient and returning comet. Lastly, Joel's discovery of a Mayan king named Nun Yax Ayin has started connecting the dots on all the various components of his prophecy. A comet and an energy/spiritual change (AKA The Day of the Lord) are coming. Get Ready!

Cosmic Locusts was a finalist in the Visionary Fiction category as part of the Coalition of Visionary Resources Awards at the International New Age Trade Show in June 2003.

In my article of September, 2003 (number 117 under "what's new" at diagnosis2012.co.uk), I correctly predicted a cosmic event upon it's publication. I was able to do this because of a detected celestial event pattern associated with every major developmental step of my prophecy. In fact, there were several rare events within a few days of each other coincident with the article's posting. The most notable was a meteorite impact with injuries in India. The only other time in modern recorded history that a human injury occurred from a meteorite was the week I was born, which forms the beginning of the cosmic events listed in the article. While I am somewhat distressed at there being injuries, I am shocked and awed at the power of God.
