I can't sing, dance, or draw! But sometimes, when the inspiration hits me, I sure can write!

Background Information

Joe Fleckenstein was born in Maryland, and is a resident of Aberdeen. An executive assistant, he is a graduate of The College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. With a background in retail management, banking, and non-profit associations, Joe desired an outlet to pursue his creative side, and turned to freelance writing in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area during the late 1990’s. His stories were primarily features in local periodicals, as he penned articles about up-and-coming songwriters, artists, and theatrical performers. Amidst a two-year stay in Arlington, Virginia, Joe was a Roman Captain Supernumerary in the opera, “Julius Caesar,” which ran at The Kennedy Center from January through March of 2000. Ironically, he is not even a mediocre karaoke-singer, but his battlefield performance for the Opera was extraordinary. Upon returning to Baltimore in late 2000, Joe continued to write, focusing on science fiction, short stories, and poetry. POEMS FROM AN AVERAGE JOE: A COLLECTION is his first published book, and he will soon pursue a publisher for a science fiction novel. Joe enjoys hiking, concerts, plays, and spending time with his family and friends. He returned to Northern Virginia in late 2004, and after a four-year stint in Fairfax County and employment at the Pentagon, came back to Harford County, Maryland in June of 2008.

Accomplishments

Joe looks forward to the Baltimore Orioles having a successful 2009 season!
