Being raised on a diet of Hans Christian Anderson, Enid Blyton's 'Famoue Five and Robert Louis Stevenson, left me with a thirst for thrilling fantasy adventures, which I have never quite been able to shake off.
Apart from the usual newspaper and magazine competitions aimed at schol kids, I didn't actively start writing my own prose until my children were both able to read fluently. I used to write bedtime stories for them ... for which they were encouraged to further develop the imagery by producing their own illustrations.
As they grew older, I made a few half-hearted attempts at producing my first 'grand novel' ... but life always seemed to get in the way.
When my grand children were born, I resumed my short story writing ... made more exciting by naming characters after them.
I also wrote a great many letters to my grandchildren in Australia ... from my cat, Thomas. The letters, every day happenings from a 'cat's eye' view, were a huge success with them, and all their friends, which encouraged me to make a more serious effort with a novel.
Lost and Found, an epic fantasy / mythology adventure, spans the worlds of humans- fairy-folk and Hell's Mouth.
Lost and Found is a trilogy ... Book 2, Lost Again will be ready for publication in January and Book 3, Redemption by late spring. (2009)
