My two teenagers are listening to music with words I don't find too complimentary. Does that sound familiar? Words have power and presence. I love to write and read. I've spent my life in service towards others. Currently I am supply preaching around Southwest Washington in Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran churches, subsitute teaching K-12, working as a part-time librarian in Kalama, Washington and editing the Publishers' FOCUS for the Northwest Association of Book Publishers (www.nwabp.org). I almost forgot I am also raising two teenagers, one who just passed the driver's test and the other eagerly awaits driver's training school. These last two could be why my hair is turning white instead of gray!
Two people who influenced me greatly were my maternal grandmother Alberta Otte and my first college English professor. Both believed in me and my potential. Both taught me to compete with myself and do my best for me and not to please another.
Another person who left a marked presence in my life was my husband. The minute I met him I knew we would marry (it took him 2 days). We were inseparable. We melded together as we experienced life's adversity in heart attacks, bypass surgeries, and multiple miscarriages. We rejoiced and laughed in the birth of our daughter and the many cria our llamas produced. Our life vision expanded with our many travels. Even though he died suddenly of a heart attack in 1993 I have continued to expand our vision with traveling, writing and being a parent to our two kids.

ACADEMIC: Valvictorian at HS graduation; BA in psych; MDiv in pastoral care; DMin in counseling; CPE certifications; emergency substitute teacher certification and certificate of total immersion in Spanish.
PERSONAL Achievement: Took 38 years but I finally made it to Scotland; became a mother of two gorgeous kids!

Some of my favorite times are hosting workshops on a variety of topics - especially literacy and self-understanding! I offer workshops on women's creativity, parent/child communication and some of my hobbies - raising llamas and making soap!

When the Doctor's Not In is my latest manuscript seeking a home with a new publisher. It is a self-help book for the mildly depressed offering means and suggestions of working through the "moody-blues", duldrums without aid of medication.
